Ponderosa Pine (Pinus ponderosa)

A native of western mountainous regions, and northwestern Nebraska, Ponderosa Pine can grow quite tall. Long needles occur in fascicles of 2-3. Cones exhibit sharp umbo. Lower limbs tend to self-prune with age, leaving only a graceful, rounded crown towering over the landscape or forest. Needs sun and drainage. *2016 GreatPlants Evergreen of the Year
