Prairie Expedition American Elm (Ulmus americana ‘Lewis & Clark’)

This old american favorite and classic street tree shows excellent cold hardiness and Dutch Elm Disease (DED) resistance. A native floodplain tree, it tolerates both wet and dry conditions, various soil types, and air pollution. This elm is not a hybrid but a true American elm selection. The original tree was a lone survivor among other American elms that died from DED. Released and named in honor of the 200th anniversary of the Lewis & Clark Expedition in 2004.
