Red Mulberry (Morus rubra)

Red Mulberry is a medium sized tree with ovate to oblong-ovate, toothed, usually dark green leaves that have heart-shaped bases. Leaves can vary in shape ranging from unlobed to deeply lobed and from rough-textured to glabrous. Greenish flower spikes appear in early spring with reddish to dark purple fruit in the summer.  Fruits are very attractive to birds. Tolerates drought and air pollution. Full sun to part shade.
