Shagbark Hickory (Carya ovata)

Very beautiful tree for native settings! Usually a high-branching tree with a straight slender trunk, lower branches drooping, the upper ascending. Bark is gray to brown and breaks into thin plates which are free at the end and attached in the middle. *2011 GreatPlants Winner
