Ironwood / American Hophornbeam (Ostrya virginiana)
$40.00
This fast-growing, hardy, medium-sized tree has slender, spreading branches. Hop-like fruits add interest in late summer and the persistent brown leaves add winter interest. Superb understory tree, part to full shade. But single specimens have been seen doing wonderfully in full sun. Good for street or lawn, tolerant of dry locations. *2008 GreatPlants Winner
