Little Walnut (Juglans microcarpa)

Little Walnut (Juglans microcarpa), sometimes known as Texas Walnut or River Walnut, is a small, deciduous tree or shrub in the Walnut family (Juglandaceae). It is a small tree or shrub, often with a round-crowned, shrubby appearance. Produces the smallest nuts of any walnut species; primarily eaten by wildlife in its native habitat. Grows in a variety of locations, including dry, rocky ravines, hillsides & stream banks. This species is very heat tolerant and can withstand drought conditions. Can grow in part shade to full sun. Great wildlife plants that attracts many different birds and small mammals.
