Parker Pear (Pyrus communis ‘Parker’)
The Parker pear is a cold-hardy, fruit tree highly prized for its large, yellow-bronze fruit with a red blush, which features fine-grained, tender, and juicy flesh. Ripe in late summer to early fall, they are excellent for fresh eating, baking, and canning. It was developed by the University of Minnesota and released in 1934. Pear trees require cross-pollination from a different pear variety nearby to produce fruit.
