Saskatoon Serviceberry is a multi-stemmed shrub or small tree with compact clusters of fragrant, white flowers in spring just before the small, oval leaves appear. The sweet, dark purple berries ripen by early summer and are great for eating and making jelly – if you can beat the robins! This plant tolerates harsh, dry and alkaline conditions when mature. They are naturally found in an understory location but can do well in full sun.
