Summercrisp Pear (Pyrus communis ‘Summercrisp’)

The Summercrisp pear is a very cold-hardy, early-season pear variety known for its unique, crisp texture and sweet flavor, more akin to an Asian pear than a traditional soft European pear. Best suited for fresh eating and salads; not recommended for canning as processing can enhance the naturally gritty texture. It was developed by the University of Minnesota and released in 1985. Pear trees require cross-pollination from a different pear variety nearby to produce fruit.
