Ground Hug® Black Chokeberry (Aronia melanocarpa ‘UCONNAM012’ PP31821)
$40.00
Ground Hug Chokeberry is a tough, native shrub that can grow in many difficult conditions in the landscape such as parking lot beds and slopes. It can handle many soil conditions and is tolerant of drought and salt. The growth habit of this shrub is low, dense, and spreading so it makes for a perfect groundcover that can help control weeds and can help minimize the use of mulch. This three-season shrub has dainty white flowers that appear in the spring and are followed by dark purple berries in the summer which birds and other wildlife love to eat. The leaves turn a beautiful orange-red in the fall.
Ground Hug Chokeberry is a variety of Black Chokeberry (Aronia melanocarpa) developed by Dr. Mark Brand of the University of Connecticut.
