Beyond Midnight® Bluebeard (Caryopteris x clandonensis)
This new selection of Caryopteris has extremely dark, glossy foliage and a compact habit. The deep blue flowers add much-needed color to the late summer landscape. A favorite of bees, butterflies and hummingbirds. A very heat and drought tolerant plant. The mounded habit makes this a wonderful foundation plant or very stunning when used in a mass planting. In hardiness zones 5-6, they tend to behave more like a herbaceous perennial than like a woody shrub. The above-ground growth tends to die back but their roots remain hardy (if well mulched). Prune back to the ground in early spring.
